Want to help a fellow NSCS member win a scholarship? Nicole Maher, an active NSCS Member and TalkNerdy2Me™ blogger, from the Ohio State University (OSU) has recently been selected as a finalist in the Big Ten Network’s Live Big Scholarship competition. This competition recognizes students for their dedication to service. Now through January 27th, you can vote on who should win the $1,000 service scholarship. There are 5 finalists from each Big Ten school, and the winners will be those with the most votes by midnight on January 27th.
So let’s show our support for Nicole and help her get votes to win! Not only is she involved in NSCS but she has also been on three alternative break trips to Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Boston with an OSU organization called Buck-I-Service.
Nicole was recently a trip leader for an alternative break trip to Boston, where she and her group helped at the Greater Boston Food Bank and Haley House. At the food bank, they sorted over 30,000 pounds of donated goods and organized 1,500 bags of food to send to food pantries, soup kitchens, and homeless shelters. During the trip they also visited the Haley House where they served breakfast to the homeless. “This trip was an eye-opening experience, and it helped to further cultivate my passion for service” says Nicole. Nicole is a great example of a service-leader and puts service as one of her top priorities.
Please consider helping her in this service competition by voting (you can vote daily) and sharing this link with others!
