Meet our NSCS Scholar of the Week, Patrick! Patrick is a sophomore at Weber State University where he majors in Athletic Therapy.

As a member of NSCS, Patrick values personal development. “With life and values, NSCS has helped opened my eyes and allowed me to develop my definition of integrity, trust, accountability, and willingness to try new things,” said Patrick. “With their mission on always striving for excellence, service engagement, leadership, and scholarship recognition, it has helped me understand that I should always try new things and always follow my humble path. It also encourages me to be the best student possible in every class to stand where the professors will remember me beyond graduation.”

On top of being a NSCS scholar, Patrick loves to contribute to his community. “I have earned 500+ Service Hours for my college career and have volunteered for 30+ non-profit organizations. Notable organizations are Days for Girls, Special Olympics, Primary Children’s Hospital, and more,” said Patrick. “I am also marketing the first Operation Underground Railroad (OUR) Push-Up challenge in a university setting. OUR is an organization focused on raising awareness of child sex trafficking and ending it forever. The Service Team, specifically the Alternative Breaks Team, will be hosting this fundraiser challenge in January where half the proceeds raised will be donated to OUR and the other to help alleviate costs for the upcoming Alternative Spring Break Trips. Notable social issues in these trips being environmental sustainability, elementary education research practices, and health promotion and awareness.”

Though he is still in college, Patrick also has the passion to achieve his career and entrepreneurial dreams. He said,“I enjoy all types of outdoor activities and am super passionate about service. I plan to become a Physical Therapist focusing on geriatrics and cancer patient treatment and research. I also want to use my retirement savings to create a global scholarship foundation that focuses on training college students on the fundamentals of building connections with the job-world and leadership training in addition to a 4-year full ride scholarship.”

For being a dedicated NSCS member, a high achiever and extremely well-rounded, Patrick is our Scholar of the Week!
