PACE Media Kit

How to Use This Media Kit

The NSCS team at the national office has put together a fool-proof, everything-you-need, make-life-easier media kit for the NSCS’ PACE Program. Use the resources in this kit to post to social media, email members, promote your programs, and engage chapter members!

  1. Below, you will find a bank of text and images for your chapter’s use for PACE Events.
  2. Click on the image to make it bigger and save it.
  3. Don’t see something you need? Remember, there are many more resources for the PACE program on the Portal at my.nscs.org.

The 5 Ws of PACE

Who: NSCS chapter members, volunteers, neighboring schools or education facilities.
What: PACE stands for Planning to Achieve Collegiate Excellence.

  • This program was founded to encourage underserved youth to attend college. PACE consists of the following three components: Mentoring, Assemblies, and March to College Day.
    • Mentoring/Tutoring Program: NSCS chapters partner with local middle school students, in traditionally underserved populations, and meet with participants from
those schools on a recurring basis to encourage them to graduate high school and attend college.
    • Assemblies: NSCS chapters host assemblies at partnering schools on various topics covering college preparedness, financial aid, helpful high school courses, etc.
    • March to College Day: NSCS chapters host PACE program participants on their campus for a day of activities to give them an example of what a day in the life of a college student can feel like.

When: NSCS chapters are set to hold events within their communities throughout the fall and spring semesters. Specifically, students are encouraged to host March to College Day in the month of March.
Where: The PACE Program empowers college students at NSCS chapters across the country to create local programs with a school or organization near their campus.
Why: According to a study conducted by the University of Chicago, students who earn a 3.0 grade point average in middle school have a greater chance of earning those same grades in high school. High school students who earn a 3.0 grade point average, or higher, are more likely to succeed in college. Giving middle school students the resources they need to effectively prepare for college will help to direct them toward the path of college and career readiness — early indicators that can be seen in students who are likely to excel beyond their secondary education include high course grades/GPA, high motivation, consistent attendance, and rigorous courses. The PACE program will help increase the likelihood that students graduate from high school and are effectively prepared for college.
