Meet our NSCS Scholar of the Week, Melissa Nieves! Melissa is a junior at New Jersey Institute of Technology where she is studying Architecture.

Melissa’s favorite NSCS experience has been participating in the NJIT PACE program. “As I spent some time with new and previous members, I gained a large amount of knowledge and inspiration. I learned about the NJIT branch of NSCS and how it focuses on the PACE program, which allows Newark high-achieving students succeed to a brighter future,” she said. “It was the most rewarding project to participate in.”

Melissa loves being involved with nonprofit organizations and anything else that allows her to give back to her community. “I love architecture, and the main reason I choose to study it is because I could have the ability to lower the chances of homelessness in the county and also promote a greener lifestyle. There are many people in this world who need much more than we do, and as a human being living on this planet, I want to make it a better place to live and take care of it. We only have one earth.”

For her contributions to her community, Melissa is our NSCS Scholar of the Week. Congrats!
