Meet our NSCS Scholar of the Week, Melissa McCarley! Melissa is a nursing major at Kent State University in her junior year.

As a member of NSCS, Melissa values the sense community it has given her. “After joining NSCS, I realized college was so much more than just attending classes. College became an ability to network, serve, excel in academics and inspire others to do the same,” she explained, “NSCS has inspired me to be not only a better student who believes in herself but a better person who lives to serve, inspire, and help others.”

On top of being an NSCS scholar, Melissa has recently started her first clinical rotation “During this rotation I made many personal victories as I began my journey to reach my greatest goal of all: becoming a nurse. I finished my sophomore year and maintained my 4.0 cumulative GPA.” said Melissa.

Melissa is also a volunteer children’s dance teacher, and she is involved in an organization called CHAARG which works to improve the life and confidence of college-aged women.

For being a mentor, a teacher, and burgeoning medical professional, Melissa is our Scholar of the Week!
