Describe how your study in this program will contribute to your goals for both academic and professional success. Do you think that international experience is vital for success in the modern age?
For the past few years, I have been trying to engulf myself more and more into the medical world. What brought me 
even more excitement was the fact that China was one of the two delegation destinations.Partaking in this unique program will aid to my growth as a pursuing medical professional. As a member of this delegation, I will be able to network and learn from my Chinese counterparts at Jiao Tong University School of Medicine and get to see ancient medicine in practice at the Guang’anmen Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
International education is vitally important to the success of today’s youth in navigating a competitive international landscape, thriving in the global workplace, and leveraging their talents and skills in ways that move the United States forward in an increasingly connected world. Thanks to globalization, many companies look for international experience as they expand overseas operations, enter new markets, or develop international partnerships. With the strong understanding of cultural and business norms that will be gained from travelling abroad, it will allow me to be more effective in developing global solutions to universal problems. Aside from that, an international experience will further strengthen my leadership, problem solving, and communication skills, all of which are core skills in the workplace.
How might this study abroad experience contribute to the United States’ competitive edge over the rest of the world academically, politically or socially? (Please respond in 300-450 words)
A study abroad experience in China would be a lifetime defining moment. Businesses and countries around the world work together and it is vital that tomorrow’s leaders learn more about their international community today, preparing themselves to be global citizens of tomorrow. Soon to come, every business and operation will be collaborated on a global scale: academic research, business development, manufacturing and distribution, environmental policy, and social networks. Partnerships are formed internationally. Experiments span across continents and require the cooperation of multiple administrations. To experience studying and living abroad, it will harvest a pronounced competitive edge. Being able to speak multiple languages is obviously a favorable skill. It allows for clear communication between parties of different countries while showing the effort to meet people of diverse lingual backgrounds. In addition, a study abroad excursion shows the willingness to be adventurous and to learn and excel in a completely different environment that is out of your comfort zone. It forces its applicants to learn quickly and directly apply their first-hand knowledge. Interaction skills are really what businesses look for and are the skills that will be most beneficial in future ventures.
In a social aspect, this studying abroad experience will open the door to millions of new faces. It will allow me to expand my network and relationships on a global scale. Students abroad not only get the opportunity to network with a people from one different country but with students from all over the world who are also studying abroad. These new established relationships could last a lifetime.
A study abroad program sets one immensely apart from their competitors. An experience as such allows one to understand different cultures at more than a textbook level, to communicate more effectively to a larger audience, and to develop even more opportunities.
