Meet our NSCS Scholar of the Week, Brittany Cole! Brittany is a junior at the University of South Florida, where she is a Biomedical Sciences major.
Brittany’s favorite NSCS experience was volunteering in the Breast Cancer 5K in Tampa Bay last October. “As someone who has been affected by breast cancer, it was an amazing experience to interact with the thousands of people who were there to support the cause and to do my part to further the movement,” she says. “This event was definitely the one in which I felt most impactful in the community and got to appreciate the volunteering experience to the greatest extent.”
Brittany is the only student at the University of South Florida from St. Vincent and the Grenadines. “USF being a very diverse school with a large Caribbean population, it is very rare to find students who do not have others of their nationality represented here,” she says. “I think this has presented me with a unique outlook on college life in the U.S., not having familiar people to relate with and therefore having to make new friends from all around the world.”
For her efforts to help the sick and pursue diversity, Brittany is our Scholar of the Week! Congratulations!
