Meet our NSCS Scholar of the Week, Asmaa Abdullah! Asmaa is a sophomore at Temple University, where she is a Psychology major.
Asmaa’s favorite NSCS experience was volunteering at the Saturday Academy with NSCS. “Some other NSCS members and I used to go to the Saturday Academy alongside an NSCS officer to help some teachers and other volunteers with the children from the local community that were enrolled in the Saturday Academy,” she says. “The teachers made regular school subjects very fun and the children loved it! I’m looking forward to doing it again soon!”
Asmaa is an avid learner of languages. “I’m already bilingual, but I am currently learning Spanish and American Sign Language,” she says. “Some people argue that American Sign Language is not considered a ‘language,’ but why wouldn’t it be considered a language if it is a great way of communicating with others and getting your point across?”
For her efforts to help her community, Asmaa is our Scholar of the Week! Congratulations!
