Meet our NSCS Scholar of the Week, Amber! Amber is a junior at University of Minnesota, Twin Cities where she majors in Animal Science.

As a member of NSCS, Amber values her community. “Being a part of an amazing organization such as the National Society of Collegiate Scholars has enhanced my academic experience beyond my expectations. NSCS encourages me to reach for the stars to achieve my scholastic endeavors and conquer adversity, with the guidance of peers and professionals,” said Amber. “What I enjoy most about NSCS is the close communities of intelligent and caring individuals who provide excellent career advice as well as form personal connections.”

On top of being a NSCS scholar, Amber has done work at the Como Zoo, the Raptor Center on the University of Minnesota Campus and the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Minnesota. “My community involvement is a pivotal goal that I am close to reaching, and the overall experience has taught me about the importance of perseverance, time management, and being open-minded to new opportunities,” said Amber.

Amber is also minoring in wildlife care and handling, and in the process of completing a second minor in behavioral biology. “Though my free time is limited, I am eager to contribute to society, the campus community, and my fellow NSCS members as secretary of the U of M NSCS Chapter,” she said.
