Homework, tests, class, and work; these mundane tasks are often a part of our daily lives. However, there is one necessary item missing from the above list that is often left out: fitness. Fitness does NOT have to be a chore and there is a fitness regimen out there for everyone. Trying to find time for it in your life can be a challenge; especially with the rigorous schedule college students are often obligated to endure.
Thankfully, today’s college students have an upper hand on previous generations when it comes to trying to stay fit and juggle your tumultuous schedule. We have the Internet. There are so many options available that make workouts accessible to almost anyone. Insanity is one of my personal favorites. It combines cardio with strength training for ultimate results. Better yet, you do not need any equipment to do it (except a device to play and watch the DVD). While the price is slightly high, if you get a few workout buddies and split the cost it actually isn’t too bad. In addition to the DVDs, you also get access to team beach body where you can interact with a fitness coach and ask questions at any time.
If you are looking for a more cost efficient way to get in shape, you can always search for workouts on YouTube. The possibilities are endless when it comes to YouTube. You can find Pilates, strength training, cardio, yoga, and pretty much any other type of exercise you are looking for. BodyRockTV has some intense videos and these can be found on either YouTube or the BodyRock website.
Lastly, if you have a smartphone with an app store, you should consider searching there for fitness apps. Nike has a few really good ones such as Nike+ running as well as Nike training. Nike+ running allows you to track where you run and how far, keep track of your pace, and customize playlists for your run. In addition, you can log on to Nikeplus website and see top routes in your area. Nike training gives you workouts that cater to your individual needs. The user may pick from the options: get lean, get toned, get strong, and get focused. It has over 85 custom workouts and is practically your personal trainer in your back pocket.
The most important thing to remember when trying to get back into shape is to focus on getting healthy, not losing weight. Never do anything that may harm you in any way. Finding friends to workout with and motivate you can make a big difference as well. Now that you have these tips what are you waiting for? Start making time in your life to make yourself the happiest and healthiest version you can possibly become and feel free to comment and share your own experiences with us.
