NSCS Chapter pulls together for Colon Cancer Walk

The Rhode Island College chapter hosted a free walk to support Colon Cancer Research studies on May 12, 2012.  The event was entitled “Walk a Mile to Support Colon Cancer Research.”  The event was headed by NSCS member Zachary Read, who is also the VP of Public Relations for the Rhode Island College chapter.

NSCS Member is named Valedictorian of his graduating class!

Congratulations to Brent Rosinksi, the VP of Social Media at Los Angeles Mission College, for being named Valedictorian of his graduating class.  Brent is one of six students graduating Summa Cum Laude (GPA 3.9 or better).  The Los Angeles Mission College is one of our community college chapters.

PACE Mentors at Georgia State University show appreciation to partner school

The Platinum Star Status chapter at Georgia State University showed their appreciation for their partner school. The members of the Georgia State U chapter have been mentoring and tutoring students in 8th grade mathematics since February of this year. Students were able to engage in a one-to-one mentor session with the NSCS members.

Vice President at Northern Virginia Community College is awarded the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergradute Transfer Scholarship!

Congratulations to David Liendo, Chapter Vice President of Northern Virginia Community College for receiving the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship. Liendo is one of 60 selected for this prestigious award. Originally from Bolivia, Liendo has worked extremely hard to maintain his 4.0 GPA, volunteer in the community and work full-time to fund for school. One day, Liendo aspires to be a doctor or scientist working in the cancer research field. NSCS is extremely proud of Liendo’s accomplishments, and wishes him the best in his future endeavors.

NSCS member is awarded the Hines Memorial Medal for her academic accomplishments!

Congratulations to Veronica Silver of Indiana State University for being one of five seniors awarded the Hines Memorial Medal in recognition of her academic accomplishments. After graduation, Ms. Silver will be teaching Kindergarten at Williamsport Elementary School. NSCS wishes you the best of luck in your future endeavors!
