Meet our NSCS Scholar of the Week, Kelly Gorman! Kelly is a student at University of Wisconsin- Madison, where she majors in marketing and management.
As a member of NSCS, Kelly’s favorite experience has been the opportunity to make meaningful connections. “NSCS has been the feeling of community, both among members of my college chapter, and digitally from members across the nation. Meeting new people, who share the desire to make a positive difference and achieve high marks academically, has broadened my network of collegiate friendships. Supporting each other and working toward common goals is a rewarding experience, and I love that NSCS gives me a platform to connect,” said Kelly.
Honoring the NSCS pillars of leadership and service, Kelly founded an organization to help unfortunate city-youth who lack quality education. Kelly said, “For the past eight years I have been a part of a program that connects under-served, inner-city children with books and other literacy materials so they can work on literacy skills. This cause is close to my heart, and last semester at University of Wisconsin – Madison, I founded a service organization on campus to assist this cause. We are planning a school-wide book drive throughout 2017-‘18, and I cannot wait to see how many children can be helped by this drive!”
For her service and passion towards her community, Kelly is our Scholar of the Week! Congratulations and keep up the great work!
