Meet our NSCS Scholar of the Week, Elizabeth Spangler! Elizabeth is a senior at The University of New Mexico, where she is a Nursing major.

Elizabeth’s favorite NSCS experience is going to PACE (NSCS’ Planning to Achieve Collegiate Excellence program). “The children are the highlight of my day every time I go. It is nice to give back to the community and encourage younger generations that anything is possible- if they want to go to college, they can,” she says. “I love the PACE program, and I know that it is giving hope to many children who need a little light in their life.”

Elizabeth recently went on a medical trip to Peru for one of her nursing courses. “While in Peru we provided medical care and education to those in the rural Andes Mountains. This trip opened my eyes to many injustices in the world,” she says. “I am becoming a nurse because I love to help people and have a caring heart. To me, nursing is not just a job and career- it is a way of living and it is who I am.”

For her dedication to helping others, Elizabeth is our Scholar of the Week! Congratulations!
